The records of the Student Council include constitutions and by-laws, minutes, correspondence, memoranda, and committee reports. Series 1 contains the subject files of the Student Council from the years 1966 to 1994. These records are arranged alphabetically by file title and chronologically within each folder. They include constitutions and by-laws, correspondence and memoranda, publications, and proposals. 520 Series 2 is comprised of the Student Council meeting minutes, agendas, Series 2 is comprised of the Student Council meeting minutes, agendas, and supporting papers from 1911 to 1994. There are no records for the period of 1928-1965. The Supporting Papers are available from 1989 through 1994. The records are arranged chronologically by folder and within the folders themselves. Series 3 contains records of the various Student Council Committees, including correspondence and reports, dating from 1941 to 1994. Files of the Student Activities Commission are arranged alphabetically and contain information on the Student Council funding processes. The records are arranged alphabetically by committee title and chronologically within each folder.

The Student Council was formed in 1912 to help manage undergraduate affairs at Hopkins, primarily by supervising class elections, mediating disputes between classes, and regulating freshman hazing. In 1913 the council introduced the Honor Code and enforcement of the code quickly became its primary duty.
